body AS site; body IN site |
|
At Clinchdesign, the focus is on designing habitable, responsive and sustainable environments for the body, grouped into two scales of intervention:
body AS site, and body IN site.
While the medium or vehicle of investigation is constantly changing, the central theme, scope and strategy of each project remains consistent. The outcome of each project is a flexible framework that produces a range of dynamic, scalable and context-specific solutions.

Temporal Clothing |
|
Clothing, like food and shelter is a basic human need, however, unlike shelter, the average life expectancy of a garment is relatively short, with Americans discarding an average of 68 pounds of clothing and textiles per person per year, according to the EPA Office of Solid Waste. What sets these zero waste garments apart is their ability to adapt and transform to accommodate a wider range of body types, seasonal change, and the cyclical size fluctuations that may occur in a woman's body over time, including pregnancy.

Temporal Furniture |
|
Similar to clothing and other essential consumer soft goods, furniture has developed a comparable life cycle and footprint. Liveworkplay, a series of convertible furniture solutions - consolidates multiple pieces of furniture found in our everyday environments in order to maximize space, increase storage, and minimize clutter. These modular fixtures allow for multiple quick and easy spatial configurations that accommodate one’s changing needs.
